Academic competitions are not for everyone, but for many students they provide an exciting opportunity to learn and test their limits. Such competitions often involve advanced preparation, and Daedalus offers a variety of programs designed to help students get started with academic competitions, improve their skills, or compete at the highest levels. Daedalus staff includes academic contest veterans including a former national champion mathlete who has coached hundreds of top performers, and members of nationally recognized debate teams with multiple national championships.
The following is a list of academic competitions for which Daedalus offers or is currently planning programs.
Mathematics competitions enrich the learning experience for motivated math students. The following is a list of some of our favorite math contests.
Computing is the modern problem solving art, and programming competitions have begun to reach maturity. We will add a list of programming competitions soon.
Robotics competitions challenge students simultaneously in programming, logic, mathematics, and engineering design. We will add a list of robotics competitions soon.
Speech and debate competitions involve a variety of events in which students practice communication skills as well as develop practical research and critical thinking skills. The National Forensics League website provides details on a wide variety of events.
